I added a seatback to my sailboat. Sheri and I took it out on
Lake Pend Oreille to try it out. Unfortunately, with both of us on the back
seat the front of the boat was pretty high. So Sheri was relegated to the
floor. The next time out I'll add some weight to the bow so we can sit together.
I mounted the tiller backwards and ran a line through fairleads creating
a rope loop. Steering is accomplished by grabbing the rope on the port or
starboard side and pulling or pushing to deflect the rudder. Works great!
